A Scratch in Time – An international exhibition of scratchboard works
Jan. 19 - Feb. 19, 2010
All of the work was produced on Ampersand Scratchbord™ panels.
The Department of Fine Art at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado recently hosted
“A Scratch in Time” an exhibition of 24 scratchboard artists from the US, Canada, & Australia.
This event featuring the extraordinary work of these artists was not only a first for
Adams State College, but the event is only the second of this type of exhibition focused
solely on the medium of scratchboard ever to take place. Last March, a similar exhibition
took place in Indianapolis under the initiative of 15 scratchboard artists who met on the
Wet Canvas website on the Scratchboard Art channel.
The exhibition at Adams State College is taking place at the Cloyd Snook Gallery and will
run through February 19th. Curated by artist Charles Ewing, a panel of the featured artists
treated students and community members to a full evening of panel discussion and demonstrations.
Scratchboard has always been a small niche medium relegated mostly to commercial
illustrators. However, in recent years since the invention of Ampersand Art Supply’s Claybord™ and Scratchbord™ by Charles Ewing, more and more fine artists are turning to this incredible detailed medium.
A gallery of Scratchbord™ artworks from the exhibition is featured here. Visit each artists’ individual website by clicking on the larger image of their work.
More candid photos shared by the artists themselves can be found in our
Facebook gallery.
