Ampersand Art Supply Supports
Mexic-Arte’s Mix ‘n’ Mash 2009 Fundraiser - Austin, TX December 4, 2009 through January 3, 2010
Mexic-Arte, the official Mexican and Mexican-American Fine Art Museum of Texas, held their Mix ‘n’ Mash Show and Fundraiser to benefit the museum’s exhibition and education programs.
Elaine Salazar, President and CEO of Ampersand Art Supply worked with Mexic-Arte’s Executive Director, Sylvia Orozco to arrange the donation of over 200 museum-quality 12˝x12˝ Gessobord™ panels on which artwork for the exhibition was created by over 100 local and regional artists. The title and concept of the exhibition is derived from the terms "mix-and-match" (to combine elements in a harmonious and interesting way) and "mash-up" (a work that blends two or more songs or pieces of art from different genres), Mix 'n' Mash is an original concept by Mexic-Arte Museum, which refers not only to the mashing of genres into one work of art, but also to the mixing of work by various artists to create a unique collector's set.
We encourage you to visit the Mexi-Arte’s Website at www.mexic-artemuseum.org to view the entire exhibition. The public may purchase one or more panels of artwork - ranging in all styles and media - and make their own diptych or triptych. Additional photos from the exhibition can be viewed in the Ampersand Facebook photo gallery:
